ACTIVITIES
Art is the product of an observant eye, a creative mind and a skilled hand to observe is to be aware and it is on this premise that the curriculum of the B.F.A. course at the Goa College of Art is structured. It adopts a holistic approach to art education where students are urged to participate in a host of parallel activities that help in their overall understanding of art and the creative process.
Both students and staff participate in various artists camps, workshops and seminars, besides exhibiting at solo and group shows.
WORKSHOPS
Workshops organized by the Goa College of Art independently and in collaboration, provide the necessary exposure to related fields of art and design.
Students are able to gain from interaction with eminent visiting artists, practicing traditional as well as modern methods who are invited to conduct these workshops. Besides, India is a treasure trove of folk art and culture and much can be learned, also from the master craftsmen in folk traditions, who are invited to demonstrate at these workshops.
EXHIBITIONS
The Goa College of Art has hosted a number of exhibitions of students work and of visiting artists.The photo and sketch club has an Annual Exhibition of work produced by participants during their outdoor trips.
As each academic year draws to a close, the Goa College of Art, puts up its annual exhibition of work done by its students during the year that has passed. It is probably, the most revealing display of all that is learned and achieved by the students on the academic front.
KALA UTSAV
The Kala Utsav is a festival of art that was first held in the year 2004. It was started with the aim of presenting students with a platform to display their creativity and artistic abilities. The event opened the doors of Goa College of Art to the public not only to showcase the activity happening within but kindle an interest in the same, specially among those who wished to pursue a career in art.
