Students opting for a course in Applied Art are primarily trained in Communication Design. It is a three-year course after learning the basics at the first year foundation. Created to cater to the demands of the design-oriented industry in the field of advertising, film, animation, computer graphics, print-media among others, the training also borders on media and marketing aspects.
Subjects in Applied Art for the initial years include Drawing, Typography, Press Advertisements, Poster and Packaging design and basics in Photography, printing, Screen Printing and Desktop Publishing.
The training in different practical subjects is supported with knowledge in theory which include Advertising and Visual Communication. In the advanced years, Design is the major subject which remains compulsory. Students also opt for specialization. Currently, Illustration, Photography, Audio Visual (Film making) and Computer Graphics are the specialization subjects offered.
